Thanks to strong support from the racing community racers running in this year’s King of the Hill Shootout on October 5, will have a chance at more than $4,000 in prize money. “We have a lot of people stepping up to support this year’s program and I wouldn’t be surprised if purse grows to more than $5,000,” said Tech Director Buddy Scurto. “Last year’s winner won more than $3,000.”
Racers will get two time trials and entries are limited to those vehicles eligible to enter a Friday King of the Hill race. Two categories will run; electronics and non-electronics. The winner of each category will win a purse for their respective category and those winners will run off for the top prize. Cars equipped with electronics will be able to use all of their devices in competition in electronics class, but in the runoff throttle stops may not be used and Cross Talk will be off. Dragsters, Altereds, Top Sportsman, Pro Mods and Top Dragster entries are not eligible to compete.
Competitors who entered a King of the Hill race during the 2013 season will not have to pay a purse entry, but will have to pay the track test and tune fee of $40. Racers who competed in a King of the Hill race, but did not enter the payout format will be charged $20 in addition to the track test and tune fee. Racers who did not compete in a 2013 King of the Hill race will have to pay the $40 purse entry fee in addition to the track test and tune fee. First round buybacks will cost $35.
Although not required, racers are asked to pre-register for the race by calling the track office at (603) 679-8001.
